The Pig and Pastry is a fantastic representation of a beloved neighborhood cafe, set on Bishopthorpe road. This local favorite is always full and bustling. They have a fresh counter of salads and sandwiches and are in the running for the best brunch in the city in my opinion. You cannot go wrong with any of their benedicts and there is enough on the menu to vary your order or go with the eggs royale every time like myself. They have well adapted to COVID-19 restrictions and have not lost their wonderful atmosphere. Next time you’re thinking of where to dine for brunch in York take the time to make your way to Bishopthorpe to try this place out! There are some lovely charity shops and other cute local shops to check out on the street as well so it is well worth the little extra walk.
