Restaurants Review York

Review: Skosh

I’ll start of by saying this is the best food I’ve had in years and I will bring anyone and everyone I can to this restaurant. Skosh describes itself as ‘Contemporary British cooking with an international influence. Snacks and small plates.’ It has a Bib Gourmand from Michelin and is in the top 100 restaurants in the UK. This is great sharing food, although you won’t want to. While the dishes may seem wacky, trust me they work. You can really tell that Neil, the chef-owner, knows and loves what he is doing. Make sure to book a reservation well in advance though because it is no longer a secret spot in York.

Brussels Sprouts Manchurian: An excellent take on the vegetable which I would never order on a menu, sour and perfectly crisp, they make me actually want more sprouts, which I can tell you has never happened before.Donuts with Saffron Custard: Amazingly fresh jam donuts that make you feel like they’re fresh from a stall at the seaside and an amazing warm custard cocktail to go alongside them.

Sea Bass Sashimi with a Horseradish Ice and Caviar: Tastes like sushi but on steroids. Absolutely amazing, served with a creamy sauce that’s to die for, had to resist licking the plate clean!
