Chapel Hill North Carolina Restaurants Shopping

Supporting Local Businesses – In Style

I must say that I love my hometown of Chapel Hill, it is a sweet Southern College town that is always changing yet retains its familiarity to those who were brought up here. Being a college town there is a pizza restaurant on every corner, how long they last is a different story though. However, many favorites aren’t going anywhere, one of those being YoPo, or the  Yogurt Pump for those who aren’t familiar. YoPo finally reopened amid the pandemic at the end of April, after installing a great new pickup window meaning that customers didn’t have to wait inside. Down a little alley off of Franklin Street, YoPo is a ridiculously affordable spot that is a Chapel Hill classic and a must-stop spot on your visit.

The dress that I am wearing in this post I bought this past week from one of my favorite boutiques in the area, Whilden. The boutique, owned by Courtney Whilden, prides itself on having a range of classic and eclectic clothing. In a small town like Chapel Hill I had often found it difficult to find interesting and quality clothing until I visited  Whilden for the first time about two years ago. It is always a warm environment and the staff is always wanting to help you find just the thing you are looking for! They have a great selection of both well-known designers as well as showcasing North Carolina designers as well, even having trunk shows.  This dress in particular is from Marie Oliver, whose headquarters are actually in Greensboro, NC. It is a ridiculously comfy white linen dress to throw on for those hot summer days and can easily be dressed up or down.

The handbag and shoes I’m wearing, I must admit, are not locally sourced. The handbag is from  Kayu Design and is perfect for these relaxed summer looks. It has a great drawstring on the top to protect your goods and is light while still feeling sturdy. They have sold out of my particular bag but this one is almost identical from Kayu. The shoes I’m wearing are one of my true favorites that I’ve had for almost 3 years now, the Gucci Embroidered Aces, unfortunately, these are now sold out everywhere but you can find other Gucci Sneakers here. In all, I am super excited to be getting ready to dress for warmer weather and see what other gems I find along the way and stay supporting local businesses!
