Possibly my favourite Chapel Hill institution, Merritt’s will never cease to satisfy me. With hands down, the best BLT in the business, Merritt’s is a long time favourite of Chapel Hillians and visitors alike. Nestled just off of UNC’s campus lies Merritt’s allowing it to have a lovely tranquil outside space and great parking. Their infamous BLT was introduced in 1992 and has been running strong ever since, I can’t help but crave one as I write this. If for some bizarre reason you don’t like BLT’s, don’t fear there will be something for you here, and if you aren’t full by the end of your huge BLT make sure to grab some banana pudding while you’re there too. The best time to visit Merritt’s is on a warm summer or even winter’s day and bring your furry friend with you to enjoy the outdoor space, the BLT is best served with a side of Cheerwine or sweet tea!
